The Effect of Low Temperature and Day Length on Bolting and Flowering in Radishes

Abstract
This experiment was carried out to study the effect of low temperature and day length on bolting and flowering in some radish varieties. The results obtained are as follows
1. The low temperature and day length seemed to be mutual complemental factors in bolting and flowering of radishes.
2. When one of these two factors is satisfied partially, the effect of the other on bolting and flowering is diminished.
3. Bolting and flowering displayed somewhat different response to low temperature and day length according to varieties. Bolting and flowering of Oriental type was more sensitive to low temperature than day length, but in European type the effect of low temperature and day length on bolting and flowering was almost equal.
